About The Customer
Nipro Europe NV is part of Nipro Corporation, a global concern with its headquarters in Osaka, Japan. Nipro Corporation develops, produces and sells medical and pharmaceutical aids for dialysis, infusion therapy, diabetic applications, pharmaceutical glass and general hospital supplies. Nipro Europe NV, based in Zaventem, Belgium, is responsible for the production, sales, distribution and marketing of these products in Europe, Africa, Russia and part of the Middle East. Nipro Europe NV is also responsible for four production facilities in the United States and seven in Europe. It’s Nipro Europe’s mission to provide innovative products of high quality. To this end the company adopts the operational excellence leadership philosophy, with leadership, teamwork and resolving problems at its core, with a constant focus on the needs of the client. Employees themselves are given the resources to be able to improve the organisation constantly.
The Challenge
Nipro Europe NV, a part of the global Nipro Corporation, develops, produces, and sells medical and pharmaceutical aids across Europe, Africa, Russia, and parts of the Middle East. The company also oversees four production facilities in the United States and seven in Europe. To enhance its operational efficiency, Nipro Europe switched to SAP ERP in 2010. However, the company faced challenges in providing insights into data from four different SAP systems and giving employees the tools to report and analyze data. Answering ad hoc queries and consolidating data from the various systems remained an issue. SAP also offers possibilities for this, but these are more strategic in nature and often lead to complex and time-consuming projects.
The Solution
To enable an insight into the SAP data, including for employees in the sales, operations, and finance departments, Nipro Europe decided to look for a Business Intelligence solution. The company chose QlikView as a BI platform. Nipro Europe now has nine QlikView apps which employees in the sales, operations & finance departments use daily to find their relevant data, analyze it, and discuss it with colleagues, to be able to make better and quicker decisions. The QlikView applications Sales, Sales Budget Consolidation, Sales Budget Follow-up, and Customer Pricing make it possible for employees to implement the required modifications themselves within QlikView if, for instance, a new sales manager is added or a region is rearranged. The social collaboration features in QlikView 11 also make it possible to analyze and discuss information together, so that decisions can be taken quickly.
Operational Impact
  • QlikView saves the IT department a great deal of time. For example, there are almost no demands anymore for ad hoc reports.
  • Consolidating data occurs automatically with QlikView, eliminating the possibility of errors.
  • The unique Business Discovery features in QlikView quickly provide answers to the most complex ad hoc questions.
  • QlikView applications Sales, Sales Budget Consolidation, Sales Budget Follow-up and Customer Pricing make it possible for employees to implement the required modifications themselves within QlikView if, for instance, a new sales manager is added or a region is rearranged.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Reduction in DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
  • Consolidations completed in several minutes rather than four days.
