The Challenge
MultiCare Health System faced a critical challenge during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the community, they needed to hire a large number of healthcare professionals quickly to meet the increased demand. However, traditional in-person career events were no longer feasible due to social distancing measures and lockdowns. This left MultiCare scrambling to find a way to engage and hire mission-driven employees without compromising on their values or the personal experience that in-person events provided. The hiring team was consumed by the challenge, feeling like they were running in place without making significant progress. They needed a solution that would allow them to hire a massive number of people in a short period without sacrificing the quality of the candidate experience.
The Solution
To address the hiring challenges posed by the pandemic, MultiCare Health System turned to Paradox's virtual events platform, leveraging its conversational AI recruiting assistant, Olivia. Olivia facilitated virtual hiring events by screening candidates, gauging their interests, and directing them to the appropriate events. She also answered candidate questions and connected them with hiring managers in video meetings. This virtual approach allowed MultiCare to create specific events tailored to different departments and locations, making the hiring process more efficient and focused on actual needs. The mobile-first experience provided by Olivia enabled candidates to engage with the hiring process on their mobile devices, accommodating their busy and unpredictable schedules. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.
