About The Customer
Morphlabs is a company that has been providing expertise in deploying turnkey cloud solutions for over four years. They aim to democratize the deployment of enterprise-class private clouds through their mCloud Data Center Unit (DCU), which combines leading-edge cloud building blocks, open-source software, and commodity hardware. Morphlabs partners with Arista Networks to enhance their cloud solutions, ensuring high performance and availability for their customers.
The Challenge
Morphlabs needed to find an affordable, open, adaptive, and powerful 1U switch to meet their clients' demands for revolutionary turnkey cloud solutions. The primary concern was finding the best architectural solution that could provide non-blocking wire speed performance on all ports and extensibility built into the switch architecture. Cost, space, and power consumption were also important considerations.
The Solution
Morphlabs integrated Arista's 7048 switch into their mCloud Data Center Unit (DCU) to optimize performance. The Arista 7048 switch offers non-blocking wire speed performance on all ports and extensibility built into the switch architecture. Each mCloud DCU is networked through a top-of-rack Arista 7048 switch configured with active-active redundancy using Arista’s Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation technology. The mCloud Controller communicates with the Arista EOS software to automatically make configuration changes, including VLAN assignments, to create private virtualized resource pools. The integration of the mCloud Controller technology with Arista was efficient, leveraging Arista’s extensibility features.
Operational Impact
  • The Arista 7048 switch provided high performance and availability, meeting the demands of Morphlabs' customers.
  • The command line syntax of the Arista 7048 switch proved simple and easy to learn, making it a game changer for Morphlabs.
  • The flexible connectivity and extensible modular operating system of the Arista 7000 series opened up new deployment possibilities for future projects.
  • The integration of the mCloud Controller technology with Arista was extremely efficient, enhancing the overall performance of the mCloud DCU.
