About The Customer
MIB Agents is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 with the mission to 'Make It Better' for kids battling osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer that affects nearly 1,000 people every year in the United States. The organization supports patients, families, researchers, and clinicians through education, research, and support programs. The founder and Executive Director, Ann Graham, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma as an adult and is passionate about improving the situation for osteosarcoma patients, caregivers, doctors, and researchers. The organization operates remotely with a team of over 200 volunteers.
The Challenge
MIB Agents, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting patients, families, researchers, and clinicians dealing with osteosarcoma, faced a significant challenge in managing their digital content. The organization heavily relies on imagery and video content to convey their mission and work. However, the content management was centralized with the founder, Ann Graham, being the only person who knew where and how to access the content. This created a bottleneck within the team, as no one else could pinpoint when photos were taken or how to access them. The challenge was exacerbated by the fact that the team, including over 200 volunteers, were all working remotely. The organization needed a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to eliminate these bottlenecks and streamline their content workflows.
The Solution
MIB Agents adopted Canto, a cloud-based DAM system, to address their content management challenges. With Canto, the entire team could easily access the organization's nearly 3,000 pieces of content, including images, videos, and reports. The system's facial recognition feature allowed the team to easily find content of children they've supported and send these photos and videos to parents. It also helped them quickly find photos of specific people within the organization, such as doctors, volunteers, and staff. This ensured a variety of images and videos were being used for different projects. Furthermore, the cloud-based nature of Canto allowed the team to access their digital asset library from anywhere, facilitating remote work. When the organization decided to refresh their website, the centralized assets in Canto made it easier for the web designer to find exactly what they needed, enabling them to create a powerful and unique narrative with their content.
Operational Impact
  • The adoption of Canto has significantly improved the operational efficiency of MIB Agents. With the bottleneck removed, the team is quicker at delivering projects and the founder, Ann, has more time for important tasks. The organization is now better equipped to tell their story through their digital assets. This improved storytelling capability is expected to lead to more funding, which in turn will lead to more research and hopefully one day a cure for osteosarcoma. The ability to easily find and use a variety of images and videos for different projects has also enriched the organization's content strategy, allowing them to create a more powerful and unique narrative.
Quantitative Benefit
  • The team can now easily access nearly 3,000 pieces of content.
  • The organization was able to streamline their content workflows, improving efficiency.
  • The cloud-based system facilitated remote work for the entire team, including over 200 volunteers.
