About The Customer
Medico is a healthcare technology company that has developed a hospital information system (HIS) to meet the needs of the growing number of hospitals in Indonesia being operated under a group environment. Medico is one of the pioneers in the development of electronic health records in Indonesia, with features supporting multiple site operations. Their HIS is an integrated solution that allows hospitals to easily process patients’ administration and billing arrangements, ensuring the critical focus and time is spent by the hospital in caring for its patients. The system also features enhanced security to protect patient data confidentiality.
The Challenge
Medico, a pioneer in the development of electronic health records in Indonesia, needed a strong data center solution to launch a private cloud-based Hospital Information System (HIS) for its customer, Mayapada Healthcare Group. The Group operates three hospitals and plans to scale their operations by adding several new hospitals in the near future. Medico needed a platform for centralized data synchronization to support at least seven hospitals within the next two years, and it needed to be seamless. The team auditioned technology from all the major vendors, looking for that perfect combination of value, performance, and scalability.
The Solution
Medico and Mayapada Healthcare Group chose to build its system architecture on solutions from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The HPE proposal included the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Server with AMD EPYC™ 7251 Processor, HPE Nimble Storage AF20 All Flash Dual Controller arrays, and HPE StoreOnce Data Protection Backup Appliances. The team also purchased its VMware vSphere® and Veeam® software licenses as well as Microsoft Windows Server 2016 licenses from HPE to simplify the procurement process. The HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Server takes full advantage of the AMD EPYC processor’s high core count and memory capacity making it a good solution for Medico’s highly virtualized server configuration. With built-in predictive analytics and cloud-ready architecture, the HPE Nimble Storage arrays offer Medico and Mayapada Healthcare Group superior availability and radical simplicity.
Operational Impact
  • The HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10 Server enabled Medico to run 100 virtual machines on a single server, offering an attractive price-to-performance value for their business model.
  • The HPE Nimble Storage arrays provided Medico with low latency, application performance, and high availability.
  • HPE StoreOnce provided secure backup of the hospital data in a flash-based environment that enables low-cost archiving and disaster recovery in the cloud.
  • The HPE solution simplified the total data center solution with a single vendor, enhancing care by keeping healthcare professionals focused on the patient with one patient-one record system.
Quantitative Benefit
  • The solution is scalable to multiple locations without exponentially increasing cost.
  • The system architecture can be scaled to business needs as the network grows.
