About The Customer

mc2i is an independent consulting firm that assists large private companies and public bodies across all sectors to innovate and seize the opportunities offered by digital technology. With over 1,000 employees, mc2i has managed to maintain a human scale, thanks to strong values and a corporate culture that promotes conviviality, proximity, and cross-functionality. The firm offers an entrepreneurial approach to consulting that encourages and values initiative, sharing, and the spirit of innovation. mc2i is composed of 50% women and 50% men, from a variety of backgrounds, who use their skills and talents to make digital transformation a human experience. The support offered by the firm is designed by people and for people, before being designed for companies. Environmental issues are therefore one of their priorities.

The Challenge

mc2i, a digital transformation consulting firm, was committed to reducing its carbon emissions as part of its environmental responsibility. However, the firm faced challenges in measuring and monitoring its carbon footprint, raising awareness among its employees, and engaging its service providers in the process. The firm needed a comprehensive understanding of its practices and activities to implement effective solutions for reducing its environmental footprint. The task of carrying out a carbon footprint analysis was energy-consuming and tedious, as the required elements were scattered throughout the organization. The firm also wanted to go beyond the regulatory requirement of carrying out a carbon assessment including scope 1 and 2 only, every five years. Given their core business and steady growth, they felt it necessary to carry out a full carbon assessment, including the impact of digital uses and materials, services, etc.

The Solution

To address these challenges, mc2i partnered with Greenly, a company that offers a simple and intuitive automated carbon footprint approach. Greenly's solution appealed to mc2i as it responded precisely to the problems encountered internally and by their clients. Greenly approached more than 900 employees of mc2i to better understand their practices and activities. Based on the responses, Greenly was able to construct a complete carbon footprint for the firm. This helped mc2i to better structure its environmental policy and draw up an action plan to reduce emissions in the long term. The solution, based on accounting elements, provided a rational and precise view of the company's carbon footprint, enabling it to manage and reduce its emissions. The solution is recognized by the market and has been awarded the French Tech Green 2020 label.

Operational Impact
  • The partnership with Greenly has enabled mc2i to better structure their environmental policy and draw up an action plan to reduce emissions in the long term. The firm has identified the levers to be used to reduce their emissions and has already drawn up the action plan for 2022. The purchasing department, the digital department, and the training department were included in the discussions to implement a 360° strategy to reduce the carbon footprint. The firm is planning to involve its employees more in 2022, so that everyone is aware of the process of reducing emissions. The firm has sought to define possible and impactful reduction actions, while respecting the development and growth objectives that have been defined. The process of reducing the firm's footprint is seen as a collective effort.

Quantitative Benefit
  • mc2i's carbon footprint was estimated at 938t CO2e in 2020, or 0.9t CO2e per employee.

  • This is four times less than the average company in this sector.

  • The carbon footprint analysis covered more than 900 employees.
