About The Customer
Manpower, Inc. is one of the world's largest staffing agencies. The company built its international headquarters in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. The $78 million, 280,000 square foot building is situated on 2.7 acres of riverfront property. The building was constructed on urban land where a defunct power plant, brewery, and rail yard used to stand. The company was committed to building green and as a result, the Manpower Inc. World HQ was awarded the building LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The design of the building was influenced by Manpower's business model and was intended to reflect the company's global presence.
The Challenge
Manpower, Inc., one of the world's largest staffing agencies, built its international headquarters in downtown Milwaukee. The company was committed to building green and reflecting its global presence in the design of the building. The design needed to emulate a Euro-style environment, with a main entrance facing the river and a welcoming courtyard. The company's business model also influenced the design, with a focus on comfort over opulence. All aspects of the building's design and construction, including its door hardware, needed to fit within the context of building green, creating an international feel, and providing quality economically.
The Solution
Specifiers selected DORMA architectural hardware for doorways throughout the facility. The DORMA 8900 Series Door Closers, which combine a hydraulic control system with modern architectural styling and robust standard features, were used. The DORMA 9000 Series Exit Devices, with their heavy-duty cast chassis, were used to provide superior durability for high impact applications. The virtually invisible floor-concealed DORMA BTS80 Series Door Closers were used to withstand the most rigorous applications. The LM Series Pivots, constructed of brass and steel, were used on a wide range of special design doors. The rugged DORMA D800 Series Dead Bolts were used to provide added protection.
Operational Impact
  • DORMA’s versatile products combine durability, strength, reliability, and security with modern styling to meet the Manpower, Inc. headquarters’ functional and aesthetic goals.
  • The use of DORMA's products contributed to the building's LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
