About The Customer
The customer is a regional telecommunications company that provides wireless, local telephone service, and internet access. The company has a large network of towers that require regular antenna adjustments. These adjustments are costly, with each tower climb costing a minimum of $1,000. In addition, the tower crews charge an additional $150 per hour when multiple adjustments are needed. The company was looking for a solution to reduce these costs and improve the efficiency of their antenna adjustments.
The Challenge
A regional telecommunications company was facing high costs for antenna adjustments. Every time an adjustment was needed, the company had to spend a minimum of $1,000 per tower climb. Additionally, tower crews billed $150 per hour when multiple adjustments were needed. This was a significant expense for the company and they were looking for a solution to reduce these costs.
The Solution
The company implemented TrueCall software and training. This allowed them to visualize their network within hours of initial install and make antenna adjustments using a real-time interface. Engineers were able to pinpoint network problems, direct a tower crew to make adjustments, and check those adjustments immediately. Tower crews remained on site, making modifications as engineers monitored the traffic impact in real time. This resulted in a time saving of roughly two hours for each adjustment. With an average of three adjustments per antenna, this translated to a savings of approximately $750 per site.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
