The Challenge
KPIT, a technology company focused on creating domain-intensive products and solutions, needed a web security solution that could manage the web and protect its network. Previously, the company used squid-based proxy servers and manually updated policies. However, the effectiveness of these policies was largely dependent on the knowledge and skill-base of the security administrators. With the dynamic nature of web content, KPIT realized that reactive web filtering measures were insufficient. The company needed a solution that could offer real-time protection and automatically block web threats and malicious sites as they are identified.
The Solution
After considering several solutions, KPIT chose Forcepoint Web Security as it fully met their requirements. Forcepoint Web Security enables KPIT to manage dynamic Web 2.0 content and SSL traffic, scan for malcode in real-time, and block blended threats. The solution uses the TRITON Architecture, which minimizes exposure to threats by regularly applying updates. The solution continuously scans the Internet to find new malware before it strikes. By finding a threat at the source, TRITON Architecture can block it everywhere — from email to Web mail, from static URLs to dynamic Web 2.0 sites and open proxies.

Securing the Connected Car Ecosystem
In-vehicle communications and entertainment system hosts high-value or sensitive applications. API libraries facilitate communication and sharing of vehicle data. These API libraries are vulnerable to reverse engineering and tampering attacks and may even result in loss of passenger safety. Attackers can inject malware that may be able to migrate to other in-car networks such as the controller-area-network (CAN) bus which links to the vehicle’s critical systems. Software provided for dealers to interface with cars through the OBD2 port is vulnerable to reverse engineering and tampering attacks. Hackers may be able to abuse these tools to inject malicious code into the ECUs and CAN bus. Attackers can lift the cryptographic keys used, and use that to build their own rogue apps/software. Their cloned version of the original app/software may have altered functionality, and may intend to gain access to other in-car networks.
