The Challenge

Their technology leverages a two-way voice-capable Samsung 3G smartwatch (that’s connected to a cellular network) and pairs with a powerful cloud platform, the Virtual Biometric Network (VBN), which securely captures sensitive health information from the wearer. Healthcare providers can deliver more proactive care by bundling the tablet-accessible Jupl solution and smart wearables with their own 24/7 services to deliver round-the-clock care for vulnerable individuals who live or work independently.
The Solution
To accelerate testing, deployment, and debugging of the connected wearable devices, Jupl has convenient mobile tablet access to Cisco Jasper Control Center. The automated connectivity management platform is 'one of the first ports of call for working out communications issues with devices in the field,' notes Brannigan. Control Center gives them real-time visibility into the connectivity status of all their devices, anywhere in the world, and mobile access to remote diagnostic tools like Spotlight equip them to find and fix problems quickly. As an example, the company experienced several cases during field testing where a device in the field lost connection. By logging into Control Center, they could see the device was communicating to some degree, and by sending a command from Spotlight, they forced the unit to come back online remotely. Jupl launched their connected solution with the help of Spark, a leading cellular service provider in New Zealand. Growing rapidly ever since, Jupl has been able to eliminate the complexities of scaling to new markets, thanks to Cisco Jasper’s partnerships with mobile service provider groups worldwide.
