About The Customer
Desmeules Chrysler Dodge Jeep is a large automobile dealership based in Quebec. The dealership has been in business for over 27 years and is one of the largest in the region. Its facilities include a main two-story showroom with administrative offices, a parts and service center, and a second showroom for Fiat models. Despite its impressive facilities and long-standing reputation, the dealership was struggling with a common problem faced by many businesses: after-hours theft.
The Challenge
Desmeules Chrysler Dodge Jeep, a large automobile dealership in Quebec, was struggling with after-hours theft. The dealership spans across several buildings including a main two-story showroom with administrative offices, a parts and service center, and a second showroom for the Fiat models. Despite its impressive facilities, the dealership was unable to prevent break-ins, which disrupted business operations and made employees feel unsafe.
The Solution
The dealership decided to implement the E-Plex® Enterprise Access Control System with wireless capability and chose Mifare® Smart Cards. This system accommodates a variety of hardware options, system management tools, and credential choices. It does not require access panels, conduit runs or drilling, making it installation-friendly. The dealership installed two E-Plex 5600 products on entrances to the second floor and three E-Plex 5600 locks with cylindrical latches on administrative offices, including a cash room with a safe. The system uses ZigBee technology for effective communication and low-power digital radio signals ensure fast data transfer and long battery life. The dealership also added lock upgrade kits, ZigBee Gateway and Router devices to enable communication between the locks and computer without the need for network connections.
Operational Impact
  • The system has successfully deterred break-ins.
  • The system is convenient for the dealership's operations.
  • The system has reduced incidents of employees and the public accessing restricted areas.
  • The system has improved the sense of security among employees.
Quantitative Benefit
  • No break-ins have occurred since the implementation of the system.
