About The Customer
Industrial Media is a leading independent production company that creates compelling content for multiple platforms. Its subsidiary, The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), is an Emmy-winning television production company. In the three years since it opened its doors, IPC has produced a range of content for networks, cable companies, SVOD, and digital platforms, including Netflix, Amazon, A&E, Showtime, and Oxygen. The company is known for producing critically acclaimed shows like Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath and Active Shooter. Industrial Media is dedicated to telling real human stories with integrity and works with any networks or platforms that want to tell those stories with them.
The Challenge
Industrial Media and its Emmy-winning television production company, The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), were looking to expand their collaborative workflows by adding a new production hub in New York City. The goal was to collaborate remotely with directors, producers, and editors throughout the country. Until then, their editors worked mostly on-site in Los Angeles and Atlanta. The challenge was to create an environment where someone working 3,000 miles away could be treated as though they were just down the hall. Industrial Media needed a solution that would allow them to work wherever they found talented editors, filmmakers, and story producers. Additionally, they had a tight six-week schedule to open their new production facility.
The Solution
To meet their needs, Industrial Media turned to Avid partner, T2 Computing, to build a technology infrastructure that would enable the company to meet the needs of its creative teams and keep pace with changing technology. They built an Avid post-production environment with 20 Media Composer | Ultimate editing workstations and an Avid NEXIS | E4 software-defined storage system. Avid NEXIS offers real-time editorial collaboration and high scalability and performance enabling Industrial Media to share and access media assets with anyone, anywhere. Avid NEXIS is the preferred storage solution for collaborative workflows. It supports both Avid and Adobe, enables them to keep all media in the same ecosystem, provides fast access, and expands to meet future requirements.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of Avid NEXIS shared storage has allowed Industrial Media to expand its collaborative workflows and work with talented individuals regardless of their location. This has been a significant advantage for the company, enabling them to tap into a wider talent pool and produce a diverse range of content. The Avid post-production environment has also provided the company with the flexibility to keep pace with changing technology and accommodate new formats like UHD, 4k, and 8k. The company is now busy developing content in New York City, including documentary features for YouTube and HBO and a series for CNBC. The partnership with T2 and Avid has given Industrial Media the confidence to face any challenges that may arise in the business.
