About The Customer
HMT New Technical Materials, a China-based automotive airbag supplier, was founded in 2002 and has rapidly grown to become the number-one market share holder in the Chinese airbag market. The company was among the first to acquire the FocusQuantum OPW for one-piece woven (OPW) fabric. HMT has a strong ambition to build the largest airbag production base in China, driven by its commitment to using the best equipment and technology available. The company has implemented an ambitious growth strategy to consolidate its leading position in the market.
The Challenge
To maintain its industry-leading position on the Chinese airbag market, HMT sought to substantially increase its production capacity.
The Solution
Lectra provided HMT with a comprehensive package that included the FocusQuantum laser airbag cutting solution, production preparation software suite, and professional services. This technologically advanced solution enabled HMT to significantly augment its production capacity and reduce the overall cost per airbag. The implementation of FocusQuantum OPW and FocusQuantum FT 6K units allowed HMT to achieve optimal quality and increased capacity. The service contract with Lectra ensured ongoing preventive and predictive maintenance, contributing to the smooth implementation and continuous performance improvement.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).

Monitoring of Pressure Pumps in Automotive Industry
A large German/American producer of auto parts uses high-pressure pumps to deburr machined parts as a part of its production and quality check process. They decided to monitor these pumps to make sure they work properly and that they can see any indications leading to a potential failure before it affects their process.
