Húnaþing vestra is a municipality located in northern Iceland by Húnaflói gulf. It was founded on 7 June 1998 by the merging of all 7 of the old rural municipalities of Vestur-Húnavatnssýsla. The municipality is a popular tourist destination, known for its beautiful landscapes, hiking trails, and local services. The municipality wanted to enhance the tourist experience by providing a comprehensive guide that could be easily accessed on a smartphone. The goal was to create an app that was user-friendly, informative, and could provide real-time updates on local weather forecasts.
The Challenge

The goal was to enhance the tourist experience by providing a comprehensive guide that could be easily accessed on a smartphone. The challenge was to create an app that was user-friendly, informative, and could provide real-time updates on local weather forecasts.
The Solution
The solution was the Húnaþing Guide app, which features a simple user interface with a map and list view of local services, activities, accommodation, and hiking trails. The app also includes GPS enabled audio guides for local hiking trails and local weather forecasts. The app was designed using the Automatic Tourist Guide template, which is specifically designed for multilingual audio guides, treasure hunt games, and local points of interest. The content is triggered as the visitor approaches set locations, providing a personalized and immersive experience. The app also includes outdoor tour guides, treasure hunt games, and map markers for local services and points of interest. The client provided branding assets such as app icon, loading image, banner logo, and chose the theme colors. The app is available for free on both Android and iOS devices from the Locatify App Store and Locatify Play Store.

The Netherlands are well-known for their inland waterways, canals, sluices and of course port activities.
