About The Customer
Golifo is designed for individuals who prefer to attend events in groups rather than alone. These could be business events where networking is crucial, or any other type of event where group offers are available. The app is also beneficial for ticket holders who can use it as a social marketing channel to increase their ticket sales. They can post and manage group offers on the platform. The app is also designed to be platform agnostic, open to all types of events, and aims to change the way people and small companies choose and book events. The future plans for the app include enabling leaders and influencers to create and manage their own groups for their friends or audience, by selecting available group rewards.
The Challenge
Golifo, a social ticketing app, was founded by Laurence Mourasse, an ex-corporate in the events industry. The challenge was to create a platform that would help people connect, network, and unlock event offers reserved for groups. The founder recognized that most people do not like to attend events alone, even when the content is great. Therefore, the need for a platform that would allow people to connect early, network, and unlock group offers was identified. The app was designed to be a managed marketplace where ticket owners could post and manage group offers, using Golifo as a social marketing channel to increase ticket sales. However, the founder being a non-technical woman in her forties, faced challenges in deciding the right platform and tools to build the app.
The Solution
The solution was found in Bubble, a no-code platform that offers all the features and tools necessary to build a fully-functional web app. Golifo works like a community, a temporary social network, and like a crowdfunding site, but for group tickets where people only pay and unlock the group offer when the right number of participants is reached. The app allows attendees to browse events and groups, join/leave groups, chat and network, and manage profiles or payment methods. Ticket holders can create, publish and manage listings. The app also integrates Stripe for payment management for both attendees and ticket holders, handling payment failures and attendee communications to ensure transparency and fairness. The founder learned to use Bubble with the help of online courses and a 12-week program with Gaby Roman of coaching no-code apps.
Operational Impact
  • Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic to the live event industry, Golifo has persevered in learning as much as possible with digital events. The founder credits Bubble for enabling her to take this long-term view. The use of Bubble has also given the founder the confidence to test and change the app on the fly when she learns something new. The founder believes that human interactions are good for business and has a big vision to help people attend events, meet each other, and share valuable human experiences while also supporting event creators get more out of their efforts. The future plans for the app include enabling leaders and influencers to create and manage their own groups for their friends or audience, by selecting available group rewards.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Golifo has managed to secure its first offer for a fantastic event with SXSW where groups of 10 save over $100.
  • Over 500,000 users are currently building and launching businesses on Bubble, the platform used to build Golifo.
