Heidelberger Druckmaschinen Aktiengesellschaft (Heidelberg) is a major provider and partner for the global printing industry. With several sales and service branches and partners, Heidelberg supplies its customers with products, services, and consumables worldwide. In the reporting year 2013/2014, the company generated group sales of approximately 2.43 billion euros, with 85% of sales achieved abroad. Heidelberg employs around 12,500 people worldwide. The company has been operating with Finavigate from Siemens as a fully functional in-house bank, connecting all corporate subsidiaries for foreign payments.
The Challenge
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG faced several challenges with their existing system, Finavigate, which was no longer supported by the provider. The company lacked transparency and control over foreign payments and banking authorities, leading to high manual efforts and inefficiencies. The need for a new system was seen as an opportunity to centralize global payments, improve bank connectivity, and achieve better SAP ERP integration. The goal was to use a single platform for electronic banking to increase transparency, control, efficiency, and realize cost benefits.
The Solution
Heidelberg introduced SAP In-House Cash in combination with the TIS Platform to address their challenges. The new system provided complete integration into the existing SAP ERP landscape through standardized, SAP-certified interfaces. This allowed seamless management of local payments by the entities' ERP system, addressing banks over TIS. The TIS Platform also automated the distribution of bank statements via the corresponding SAP certified TIS plugin. TIS offered a 'one stop' solution for bank connectivity, taking over the complexity of bank communication and formats. The Software-as-a-Service model allowed format mapping and connectivity to be outsourced to an expert, reducing high efforts in implementation and administration.
