Campbell Soup Company is a global manufacturer of high-quality foods and simple meals including soups and sauces, baked snacks and healthy beverages. These products are sold in over 120 countries worldwide. The company was founded in 1869 and currently employs over 18,000 people across its global operations. Campbell’s produces some of the most popular food and beverage brands including Campbell’s Soups, Pepperidge Farm, Prego, Pace, Swanson and V8.
The Challenge
Campbell Soup Company was operating with an Environmental Management System (EMS) that consisted of 7 stand-alone systems, each addressing a different aspect of their environmental management program. This fragmented approach was causing inconsistent documentation, limited access to data, time-consuming data gathering and dissemination, and an inability to assess the overall compliance of individual locations and the company as a whole.
The Solution
Campbell’s selected a combination of Intelex software applications, all of which operate on the web-based Intelex platform. This created an Environmental Management System that addresses each of their requirements and facilitates a 360-degree view into their organization’s environmental and sustainability performance. The new EMS is web-based and accessible to employees globally. It has hierarchical security functionality to control access by job and location. It can import and unify historical data from the previous EMS. It provides comprehensive environmental management, energy and sustainability tracking. It maintains a historical record of all environmental activities for internal and external audit purposes. It facilitates real-time environmental and sustainability data reporting, trending and analysis. It also has the ability to develop company-specific applications without the need for IT support.
