Hospital 9 de Julho is a leading private health institution in Brazil, founded in 1955 in São Paulo. The hospital caters to over 9,000 patients a month in the Emergency Room and has 4,000 registered doctors and 1,700 people on staff. The hospital was facing challenges in ensuring the security of its digital environment and needed a solution that would provide greater visibility and control over its security systems, ensure security when accessing digital systems, and make the digital environment widely available for internal and external users.
The Challenge
Hospital 9 de Julho, one of the most significant private health institutions in Brazil, was facing a significant challenge in ensuring the security of its digital environment. The hospital was using a 'home-made' solution that was simple and did not offer complete security or efficient controls to protect data and information leakage. The hospital often found itself in critical situations without having complete visibility of what was happening in its system. The main deficiencies included inefficient tools and applications to support the infrastructure and a lack of awareness among teams about the importance of controlling access and protecting information. The hospital needed a solution that would provide greater visibility and control over its security systems, ensure security when accessing digital systems, and make the digital environment widely available for internal and external users.
The Solution
The hospital chose Check Point Solutions to address its security challenges. The solution included Security Gateway Software Blades such as DLP (Data Loss Prevention software) to control and prevent internal and external information leakage, Firewall to block unauthorized network users and protect enterprise users and data, IPSec VPN for remote access to corporate resources, URL Filtering for controlling access to Internet content, Identity Awareness for identifying users, machines, and IP addresses on the corporate network, Application Control for controlling application access on the corporate network, and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) to protect the network against supposed attempted attacks and detect malicious traffic. The Check Point solutions were implemented quickly and practically, providing the hospital with high-tech information security that not only protected data but also controlled suspicious access and educated users.

Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals.
