About The Customer
Askoll is an Italian multinational company with 11 plants throughout the world and more than 2,000 employees. Founded in 1978 by Elio Marioni, Askoll has been developing highly innovative technologies for electric motors, using synchronous technology. Initially developed for the aquarium sector, this technology was subsequently extended to the world of home appliances and, since 2015, to the world of sustainable mobility. Today, Askoll is the leading manufacturer and distributor of Italian electric vehicles through a network of single-brand store and dealers in Italy and Europe. The company delivers IT services to its global locations from two data centers in Italy.
The Challenge
Askoll, an Italian multinational company specializing in the manufacturing of electric motors, faced a significant challenge in securing its mobile workforce. With the company's rapid expansion into the electrical mobility market, the need to protect employees' mobile devices, regardless of their location, became paramount. The company needed to prevent mobile security threats and ensure business continuity while simplifying the management of IT security. The challenge was further compounded by the need to ensure that users were always connected and protected, on various devices and in any location. This was a significant task for Askoll’s IT team, which had to manage IT services for its global locations from two data centers in Italy.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Askoll implemented Check Point SandBlast Mobile and Check Point Identity Awareness. Check Point Identity Awareness allowed Askoll's IT team to create identity-based policies, simplifying the experience for both users and IT management. This solution reduced the number of policies required and enabled the IT team to protect users more effectively. Additionally, Check Point’s mobile threat defense solution, SandBlast Mobile, provided Askoll with the ability to monitor mobile devices and prevent cyber-attacks. With advanced protection and full threat visibility, even the latest and most unexpected threats were caught, ensuring the security of the company's mobile workforce.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of Check Point solutions has brought significant operational benefits to Askoll. The company has been able to increase productivity in a dynamic environment by protecting all users with minimal involvement from the IT team. The Identity Awareness solution has reduced the number of IT security rules required, simplifying IT management. Increased visibility of user activity has made IT management much simpler. The company has also been able to prevent the latest malware threats with proactive intervention, ensuring the security of its mobile workforce and the continuity of its business operations.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Reduced the number of firewall rules in Italian data centers from 460 to 260.
  • Reduced the time and effort spent on security problems by 40%.
  • Ensured real-time visibility of mobile threats on company devices.
