About The Customer
Dimension Data Luxembourg is an IT services provider that works with a number of organizations across various industry sectors helping customers plan, build, support, and manage their IT infrastructures. Over the past few years, the company’s managed IT and cloud offerings became increasingly popular with a number of customers as they offered greater cost benefits and flexibility. However, as they moved to an IT-as-a-Service model, customers also expected increased transparency. As such, the company was faced with the challenge of ensuring that all services were running well 24/7 and that they were meeting customers’ service level agreements.
The Challenge
Dimension Data Luxembourg, an IT services provider, was faced with the challenge of ensuring all services were running well 24/7 and that they were meeting customers’ service level agreements. As they moved to an IT-as-a-Service model, customers also expected increased transparency. The company needed a tool that offered streamlined, real-time monitoring. The solution also needed to provide a snapshot of all areas of the IT environment being used by the customer – not looking just at how each component, such as a server or switch, performs but also at how overall service is being delivered.
The Solution
Dimension Data chose to implement Opsview Enterprise, which provides a single, real time view of network, server, application and cloud performance. The platform’s easy-to-navigate dashboard pools information from all other monitoring tools in use, letting managed service providers (MSPs) easily assess the performance of all areas of IT. Opsview also offers automated reporting, which allows MSPs to create detailed performance analysis and trend reports. This was a key selling point for Dimension Data which, as a managed IT service provider, has strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in place. These act as a benchmark to ensure it is meeting the needs and expectations of its customers. Therefore, its goal was to use Opsview to report back to customers.
Operational Impact
  • Dimension Data is in the process of full implementation of Opsview Enterprise across all areas of its business. It anticipates that each month, several days of work normally spent trawling through monitoring tools and compiling reports for the business globally will be cut. This same rule applies to creating reports for its customer.
  • With cloud services becoming increasingly popular, Dimension Data anticipates that Opsview Enterprise will improve performance of its cloud offerings. By alerting the company to any slow-down in performance or any other issues that threaten to impact the platform, Opsview puts them one step ahead. This kind of real-time insight is vital in cloud monitoring, as any performance issues will quickly begin to impact cloud-based services and ultimately end users.
