The Challenge

Daymark Solutions, a company that designs and implements data center infrastructure, data protection, cloud services and managed services, was faced with the challenge of preventing cyberthreats, malware and ransomware from penetrating their hybrid cloud environment. They needed a powerful next-generation firewall with advanced threat prevention capabilities and deeper visibility into threats and firewall activity inside the cloud. As their customers began migrating workloads to the cloud, Daymark needed to ensure the security of these applications and workloads. They chose Microsoft Azure as their cloud delivery platform and began moving core assets into it. However, they needed to protect their intellectual property and their customers' cloud data. They also needed better visibility into the Azure environment for troubleshooting, forensics and reporting purposes.

The Solution

Daymark conducted extensive evaluations of next-generation firewall solutions and identified Check Point as an industry leader. They chose Check Point vSEC for Microsoft Azure for both on-premises and cloud environments. The Check Point vSEC solution extends security to the Azure cloud infrastructure with a full range of protections offered by the Check Point Threat Prevention Security architecture including anti-malware, zero-day protection using sandboxing technology. vSEC for Microsoft Azure prevents network attacks and data breaches while enabling secure connectivity to Azure environments. The deployment of Check Point vSEC was straightforward for the team. They deployed vSEC in Daymark office locations and connected them together in the Azure environment. Daymark customers can also deploy Check Point vSEC in their production environments.

Operational Impact

The Check Point vSEC solution has significantly improved Daymark's security posture. It has increased the team’s visibility into threats, enabling them to identify and prevent thousands of threats and bad actors from penetrating the company’s perimeter defenses, both on premises and in Azure cloud. The solution also gives Daymark customers more flexibility and agility. They can deploy Check Point vSEC in their production environments and when they clone environments for development, quality assurance, testing, or other purposes, the Check Point management server’s leverage RESTful API’s to automatically deploy and configure new vSEC appliances for each environment. The solution also works well with Daymark’s other partners, such as Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, and Microsoft, allowing the team to see across their entire environment and consistently apply the right level of security protections—whether on premises or in the cloud.
