About The Customer
Crowdcast is a live video platform that hosts webinars, Q & As, courses, and online conferences. The company is on a mission to change webinars from being the clunky, frustrating experience of old to being a seamless, delightful way to teach and connect online. Crowdcast believes that live video can be used to connect people in more deep and meaningful ways and that shared learning is essential for progress. The company aims to empower individuals, businesses, teachers, and activists to discuss, teach, and even sell through its platform.
The Challenge
Crowdcast, a live video platform for webinars, Q & As, courses, and online conferences, was facing challenges in providing a seamless and interactive experience for both hosts and audiences. The traditional webinar experience was often fraught with technical problems and lacked real interaction among participants. The company needed a video platform that could address these issues and enhance the webinar experience. The goal was to transform webinars from being a clunky, frustrating experience to a seamless, delightful way to teach and connect online. The challenge was to create a platform that would allow anyone to set up and run professional, high-quality webinars, Q&A sessions, live courses, and summits with a few easy steps and no downloads.
The Solution
Crowdcast turned to Vonage Video API to address these challenges. The Vonage Video API enabled hosts to create events with a few clicks to broadcast and interact in real-time with thousands of people. Participants didn’t need to download any software and could join the conversation at any time, from a web browser or mobile device. The Vonage interactive broadcast capabilities allowed Crowdcast to provide a webinar service that reaches a wide range of endpoints and large audience numbers. The platform could handle up to 3,000 real-time viewers backed by unlimited HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) audience numbers. The RTMP connection for Facebook and YouTube live streaming enabled customers to reach a wider audience on social networking platforms. Vonage’s mobile SDKs also allowed Crowdcast to create native mobile apps to connect to the live video events in a seamless, easy way from wherever they are. The archiving feature allowed webinars to be recorded in a format that’s instantly available and easy for post-production.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
