About The Customer
Continental Paving is a company based in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Founded in the 1970s, the company specializes in paving, site work, and materials. They perform services for commercial developments, roads, highways, and airports in the southern part of the state and are a supplier of asphalt and aggregate materials. The company has been a client of B2W since 1999. They were previously using spreadsheets for estimating but decided to switch to specialized estimating software to improve efficiency and tap into their prior estimating efforts more easily.
The Challenge
Continental Paving, a New Hampshire-based company that provides paving, site work, and materials for commercial developments, roads, highways, and airports, was using spreadsheets for estimating. While this method was satisfactory, it prevented estimators from easily and efficiently tapping into their prior estimating efforts. This limitation prompted the decision to switch over to specialized estimating software. The company evaluated several packages, including Hard Dollar (Now InEight) and HCSS, and was introduced to B2W Estimate solution by B2W founder and owner Paul McKeon.
The Solution
Continental Paving chose B2W Estimate for its flexibility and intuitive interface. The software was structured in a way that allowed the company to work the way they already worked. The estimators were attracted to the program’s flexibility, as they could use as many or as few of the B2W features as they wanted, an option not totally possible with the other systems. The company started using B2W Estimate to bid all of its New Hampshire DOT jobs. One of the favorite features of the software is the ability to generate the state DOT bid forms, which has been described as the “single greatest bid day timesaver” and one of the biggest advantages of using the software. The company also takes advantage of the ability of the B2W software to interface with its Maxwell Systems StreetSmarts accounting system.
