About The Customer
The New Democratic Party (NDP) is a major social democratic federal political party in Canada, which was founded in 1961. NDP has over 120,000 members and holds 103 seats in the current Canadian Parliament. NDP is the Official Opposition party. Unlike most other Canadian parties, the NDP is integrated with its provincial and territorial parties. They were facing a challenge with the growing amount of available data and their homemade data integration solution wasn’t able to handle this data anymore.
The Challenge
The New Democratic Party of Canada was facing a dilemma. The amount of available data was growing and their homemade data integration solution wasn’t able to handle this data anymore. They needed to find a way to process this data, or lose the chance to effectively work with their constituents. The NDP quest for quality data started with over one hundred datasets from organizations like Elections Canada, Canada411, NDP regional counterparts and more. They needed a solution that could match those records, cleanse, duplicate and delete faulty records, validate them with external and internal validators and migrate them into the NDP system.
The Solution
Based on a recommendation of their other software vendor Netfore, they decided to give CloverETL a try. CloverETL allowed them not only efficiently match, merge and migrate more than a hundred data sets from different sources and ensure the quality of that data, but also a team of CloverETL consultants helped to prepare the whole transition, so NDP don’t have to hire a highly qualified data team. This helped NDP to create a reliable data foundation. With a solid data foundation in place, NDP is able to better understand their current and potential future constituents. This allowed them to identify potential demographic segments and focus their campaigns accordingly.
