About The Customer
The customer is a leading IT services and consulting provider that caters to B2B sales, marketing, and customer success departments. With a headcount of over 3000 employees, the company has a significant presence in the IT services industry. The company operates in more than 170 countries, demonstrating its global reach and influence. Despite its size and scope, the company was facing challenges in optimizing its cloud investments, which was hindering its ability to achieve cost-efficiency, scalability, and availability goals.
The Challenge
The company, a leading IT services and consulting provider catering to B2B sales, marketing, and customer success departments, was facing difficulties in optimizing and making the most of its cloud investments. The challenges included expensive VM sprawl, limited visibility into resource consumption and costs, and a lack of readiness for migration to a containerized environment. The company has a significant presence, with over 3000 employees and operations in over 170 countries. However, these challenges were hindering its ability to fully leverage its cloud infrastructure and achieve cost-efficiency, scalability, and availability goals.
The Solution
The company partnered with Gathr to redefine its strategy for cloud optimization. Gathr leveraged its no-code platform for migration and management, which included workflows to containerize enterprise apps and automate container deployment. This solution involved migrating shared services from EC2 to containers and automating the infrastructure setup for a Kubernetes cluster via Jenkins pipelines. This created an on-demand integration testing environment. Docker images for critical application services were hosted on Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR), and continuous delivery pipelines for containerized services were set up on Flux CD to reduce deployment and release time. The solution also implemented horizontal pod scaling, auto-scaling groups at the node level, and Elastic Load Balancing for quick scalability and high availability.
Operational Impact
  • The company achieved a 60% infrastructure cost reduction on AWS.
  • API deployments were sped up, taking only 2 minutes to drive faster releases.
  • The company achieved 5x faster scaling for containers as compared to EC2.
  • There was a 90% reduction in bootstrap failures/issues.
Quantitative Benefit
  • 60% reduction in infrastructure costs on AWS.
  • 2-minute API deployments, significantly speeding up release times.
  • 5x faster scaling for containers compared to EC2, improving scalability.
  • 90% reduction in bootstrap failures/issues, improving reliability and efficiency.
