About The Customer
The customer in this case study is a large Tier 1 Carrier Service Provider (CSP). This CSP had carefully planned the coverage for their 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network by conducting drive tests and ensuring the use of meaningful measurement thresholds to trigger the usage of 5G NSA radio resources. However, recent evaluations showed that their 5G NSA network coverage excluded 26% of subscribers. The CSP was faced with the challenge of assuring complete 5G coverage for all subscribers.
The Challenge
A large Tier 1 Carrier Service Provider (CSP) had carefully planned coverage for their 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) network by conducting drive tests and ensuring the use of meaningful measurement thresholds to trigger usage of 5G NSA radio resources. However, recent evaluations showed that their 5G NSA network coverage excluded 26% of subscribers. The challenge was to assure complete 5G coverage for all subscribers.
The Solution
To identify areas of inadequate coverage gaps, the CSP turned to NETSCOUT® TrueCall® Geo-Analytics solution. TrueCall allowed the team to dynamically identify coverage gaps in near real time via a heatmap view. Applying this view, they were able to automatically pinpoint cell conditions using adjustments of antenna azimuts and tilts, as well as identify areas that needed additional cell deployments to optimize coverage gaps. Through these efforts, the service provider was empowered to reliably ensure coverages for new and additional cell sites, while minimizing drive test activities.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
