Bitsmedia is a Singapore-based tech company that developed the world's most popular Muslim lifestyle app, Muslim Pro. The app, which has over 75 million users in more than 200 countries, offers religious, lifestyle, and community features, including prayer times and halal restaurant guidance. The company aims to serve the needs of the global Muslim community, providing them with a platform that calculates prayer times, the direction to Mecca from anywhere in the world, and helps Muslims learn to read the Quran. Bitsmedia is constantly adding features to the app, such as halal restaurant recommendations and a community prayer service.
Bitsmedia, a Singapore-based tech company, developed the Muslim Pro app to cater to the needs of the global Muslim community. The app, which offers religious, lifestyle, and community features, experienced exponential growth, reaching 75 million users in over 200 countries. However, this rapid growth presented a challenge in terms of scalability, especially during the holy month of Ramadan when the app's traffic surged from about four million daily users to roughly 10 million. The company also faced the challenge of handling hundreds of millions of daily server requests and ensuring maximum security for sensitive religious data.
Bitsmedia leveraged Google Cloud to handle the exponential growth and high traffic of the Muslim Pro app. Google Cloud's virtually unlimited server capacity allowed Bitsmedia to sustain the huge volume of traffic, with up to four million daily active users and hundreds of millions of server requests per day. The Google Cloud network of data centers in 20 regions, 61 zones, and over 200 countries guaranteed reliable connections to the Muslim Pro app, regardless of the users' location. Google Cloud's robust security model provided the necessary framework to keep the religious data of 75 million users safe. Furthermore, Bitsmedia used Google Cloud tools like App Engine, Firebase, and BigQuery to develop and deploy new features rapidly, measure user engagement, and nurture popular features.
