About The Customer
Aurubis AG is the leading integrated copper group and the world’s largest copper recycler. Their core business is the production of marketable copper cathodes from copper concentrates, copper scrap and recycling raw materials. Aurubis AG has generated revenues of over €6billion in the past several years. It operates in seven European countries and employs approximately 4,700 workers. All IT operations at Aurubis are based on various key performance indicators. These KPIs allow them not only to evaluate and control IT’s performance, but also to continually adjust IT operations to the needs of the company.
The Challenge
Aurubis AG, the leading integrated copper group and the world’s largest copper recycler, needed a central, company-wide monitoring system for all subsidiaries that allowed for a standardized analysis of reported data and presentation of KPIs. All IT operations at Aurubis are based on various key performance indicators. These KPIs allow them not only to evaluate and control IT’s performance, but also to continually adjust IT operations to the needs of the company. Moreover, they form the basis for the evaluation and documentation of their suppliers’ target completion as well as their IT staff’s performance-related pay for internal services.
The Solution
Aurubis used Opsview Enterprise to build a central, company-wide monitoring system for all subsidiaries that allows for a Europe-wide standardized analysis of reported data and presentation of KPIs. Inmedias, an Opsview Enterprise Value-Added Reseller, developed a metrics dashboard and integrated it with Opsview Enterprise to provide a range of graphically treated and constantly retrievable information. Historical metrics from Aurubis' existing Nagios system were incorporated into the infrastructure so that all values in the monitoring system could be processed simultaneously and displayed in one single web interface. The infrastructure currently monitors about 300 servers and 800 services from 16 national and international sites.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
