About The Customer
This multibillion-dollar global manufacturer offers a comprehensive products and services portfolio to their customers, with a focus on providing business solutions to consumers, enterprises, and commercial businesses. With the dedication of tens of thousands of employees, they also support sales and services in dozens of countries throughout the world. A long-time NETSCOUT customer, the organization uses nGenius Enterprise Performance Management with InfiniStreamNG (ISNG) and vSTREAM virtual data sources across their enterprise environment for real-time network and application performance management and troubleshooting.
The Challenge
The manufacturer had been an early adopter of software-defined wide area networking (SDWAN) technology, having transitioned from Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) to SD-WAN over three years earlier. During subsequent years, SD-WAN technology improved, and the manufacturer’s needs evolved, requiring an update to suit current and future requirements, as well as new and evolving IT landscapes. Because business continuity is critical to company operations, their enterprise IT leaders and network operations (NetOps) team were committed to ensuring the best performance of their applications before, during, and after migration from one solution to another. The stakes were high, as downtime could cost manufacturers of this size millions of dollars per hour.
The Solution
The manufacturer’s IT leadership and NetOps team assured their SD-WAN migration by leveraging NETSCOUT visibility for network and application performance and were able to derive additional value from the NETSCOUT investment. nGeniusONE was chosen for its deep, scalable, packet-based analysis and intelligence to execute timely and effective dashboards, proactive alerts, business transaction tests, and service triage workflows throughout the transformed SDWAN environment, as well as to eliminate any visibility gaps that emerged due to the migration. The new Versa SD-WAN solution on the VEP with vSTREAM also ensured the manufacturer would maintain visibility across the entire enterprise—from core and cloud to edge and client—as they leveraged visibility from other strategically placed ISNG appliances in the network and vSTREAM appliances in the chassis.

Airbus Soars with Wearable Technology
Building an Airbus aircraft involves complex manufacturing processes consisting of thousands of moving parts. Speed and accuracy are critical to business and competitive advantage. Improvements in both would have high impact on Airbus’ bottom line. Airbus wanted to help operators reduce the complexity of assembling cabin seats and decrease the time required to complete this task.

Improving Production Line Efficiency with Ethernet Micro RTU Controller
Moxa was asked to provide a connectivity solution for one of the world's leading cosmetics companies. This multinational corporation, with retail presence in 130 countries, 23 global braches, and over 66,000 employees, sought to improve the efficiency of their production process by migrating from manual monitoring to an automatic productivity monitoring system. The production line was being monitored by ABB Real-TPI, a factory information system that offers data collection and analysis to improve plant efficiency. Due to software limitations, the customer needed an OPC server and a corresponding I/O solution to collect data from additional sensor devices for the Real-TPI system. The goal is to enable the factory information system to more thoroughly collect data from every corner of the production line. This will improve its ability to measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and translate into increased production efficiencies. System Requirements • Instant status updates while still consuming minimal bandwidth to relieve strain on limited factory networks • Interoperable with ABB Real-TPI • Small form factor appropriate for deployment where space is scarce • Remote software management and configuration to simplify operations

Developing Smart Tools for the Airbus Factory
Manufacturing and assembly of aircraft, which involves tens of thousands of steps that must be followed by the operators, and a single mistake in the process could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix, makes the room for error very small.
