About The Customer
Arapahoe House is the largest and leading provider of substance use disorder treatment in Colorado. The organization, founded in 1975, offers a full continuum of care throughout metro Denver, from walk-in withdrawal management centers and clinic-based treatment, to intensive residential programs. It provides essential and often life-saving treatment to patients and their families based on national models of care. The organization operates across 11 locations and offers 20 quality services for adults, teens, and families.
The Challenge
Arapahoe House, a leading provider of substance use disorder treatment in Colorado, faced a challenge with managing and securing data on mobile devices used by its distributed workforce. A significant portion of the workforce used their own devices to access corporate mail from the organization's hybrid Office 365 / Exchange deployment. The IT team was uncertain about the number of BYO devices in use and how they were being used. They needed a solution to secure the data on these mobile devices. They evaluated several MDM solutions including Airwatch and MobileIron but found them unsatisfactory due to their difficult deployment processes and poor user experiences.
The Solution
Arapahoe House's IT team chose Bitglass' mobile security solution due to its agentless approach, which facilitated an easy deployment. The solution allowed Arapahoe House to meet its data security and visibility requirements without burdening employees with MDM agents on their personal devices. Bitglass provided the ability to noninvasively monitor access to sensitive data on BYO devices and enabled a more streamlined process for offboarding users. When a user was deprovisioned, corporate data was selectively wiped from their devices.
Operational Impact
  • The organization can now track 100% of its employees’ usage of BYOD.
  • The simplicity of Bitglass’ solution allowed the IT team to build user-friendly guides for employees and IT members to onboard and offboard.
  • The IT team has been able to successfully wipe the mailboxes of all of the users who leave its organization.
  • The watermarking ability of Bitglass’ Citadel DLP engine enables the IT team to quickly identify and resolve potential data leakage issues.
Quantitative Benefit
  • 100% visibility into BYOD usage
  • Successful data wipe from devices of all offboarded users
