About The Customer
Automated Financial Systems (AFS) is a global leader in providing real-time, end-to-end commercial lending solutions. The company has been in business for over 50 years and has a track record of industry excellence. AFS operates the world's largest and only fully integrated commercial lending system, with 25 of the top-100 banks using its products and services. The company is solely dedicated to the financial industry and supports its clients' business and technology transformation. AFS's solutions process more than $3 trillion in small business, commercial, CRE, wealth management, and syndicated loans daily. The company is headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, with an office in Brussels, Belgium.
The Challenge
AFS, a global leader in providing real-time, end-to-end commercial lending solutions, was facing several challenges with its legacy systems. The company's IT operations were largely in-house, which included operating two data center locations in Pennsylvania. Each site was configured to failover to the other, ensuring business continuity in the event of a disaster. However, maintaining this in-house system was becoming increasingly burdensome. The resources required to manage both sites, in terms of money and time, were making the legacy processes feel more like a hindrance than an advantage. Furthermore, AFS had to comply with strict industry regulations and standards, which added to the complexity of managing their disaster recovery (DR) internally. The lack of geographic diversity among their data centers was also a concern, as it left the company vulnerable to potentially devastating unplanned downtime in the event of a regional disaster.
The Solution
As part of a larger IT modernization project, AFS decided to change its approach to disaster recovery by partnering with a cloud service provider for Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS). After a months-long due diligence process, AFS chose 11:11 Systems for its DRaaS solution. 11:11 Systems was able to meet all of AFS' industry-specific regulatory requirements, including the strict standards of the Federal Financial Examination Council (FFIEC). It also offered a dedicated compliance team, which AFS could lean on to understand the complexity of maintaining these regulations. The transition to 11:11 DRaaS for Zerto has also aided AFS in its sales efforts, as it has addressed customer concerns regarding the proximity between AFS' two data centers and the potential for unplanned downtime in the event of a regional disaster.
Operational Impact
  • Continuous data availability and business uptime
  • More internal resources available for business innovation
  • Simplicity in day-to-day management
  • Scalable cloud for business expansion
