Complete Pharmacy Care (CPC) is a Texas-based pharmacy that relies heavily on its IT infrastructure to manage prescription records, digital fax servers, email servers, and phone systems. The pharmacy serves a critical role in providing medications to its patients, making its operational continuity vital. CPC faced a catastrophic event when its server room was destroyed, jeopardizing its ability to function. The pharmacy's CEO, Leonard Lynskey, and his team were left in a dire situation, unable to communicate with patients or access essential data. The pharmacy's survival hinged on the swift and effective response from their managed services provider, Aldridge.
The Challenge
Around 2:00 AM on a Sunday, Aldridge’s client monitoring system detected an outage at Complete Pharmacy Care (CPC). Upon arrival, the technician found the server room in a state of destruction: a hole in the ceiling allowed rain to damage the equipment, hard drives were pulled, and network cabling was torn out. The pharmacy’s CEO, Leonard Lynskey, realized the gravity of the situation as the server room hosted critical systems including prescription records, email, and phone systems. The destructive act seemed aimed solely at crippling the company, as almost no medication was stolen.
The Solution
Aldridge, the managed services provider for CPC, quickly contacted Datto to verify the status of the previous night’s offsite backups. Fortunately, the backups had completed successfully just hours before the break-in. Aldridge immediately began restoring CPC’s data from the Datto cloud. Within an hour, all of CPC’s servers were spun up in the Datto cloud, allowing the pharmacy to access critical client data. By Monday morning, despite the structural damage to their office, CPC employees could access essential data remotely. By Tuesday, they were able to start serving patients on a limited basis. Aldridge continued to work with Datto to copy all backup data to a new physical device, enabling a complete migration to the cloud by the end of the week.
