Elevator Engineering Services Enhances Fleet Management with Masternaut Connect - Masternaut Industrial IoT Case Study
Elevator Engineering Services Enhances Fleet Management with Masternaut Connect
Elevator Engineering Services (EES UK), a leading engineering and manufacturing firm specializing in supporting the lift and elevator industry across the UK, faced a significant challenge in managing its mobile workforce. With a team spread across the Midlands, London, and South of England, fleet managers and the HR team rarely interacted with the drivers in person. This lack of face-to-face interaction made it difficult to monitor the welfare of the drivers and ensure the accuracy of payroll, hours, and timesheets. Additionally, EES UK wanted to improve driver behavior to create a safer working environment for its staff and other road users. The company needed a comprehensive solution that could provide accurate timesheets, monitor driver behavior, and ensure the welfare of its mobile workforce.

Innovation via Integration: A Case Study on a Smart Security Solutions Giant
The client, a smart security solutions company with over 150 years of legacy and $3.17BN annual revenue, was facing several challenges. The company's infrastructure was running on individual Pods, which increased running costs and created bottlenecks for large scale operations. The lack of automation for UI and test-cases deployment resulted in manual testing, which increased operational time and effort. Additionally, the inability to extend and decentralize access control among individuals was limiting the IoT-based security solutions offered by the company. The non-extendibility of the mobile-app features restrained user experiences and prevented users from sharing their access control.

InfoTrack: Enhancing Data-Driven Innovation with Elasticsearch Service
InfoTrack, a legal technology company, was facing challenges in managing its IT system log data and legal document data for its customers. The company was initially using Amazon Elasticsearch Service, but it ran into security and performance issues. The version of the Elastic Stack used by Amazon Elasticsearch Service only allowed security using IP restriction and restricted developers from tuning the underlying Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Additionally, InfoTrack lacked access to additional features of the Stack, including APM, Index Lifecycle Management (ILM), and Graph. This limited their potential in architecting their system for long-term success and stability, and ensuring they were getting the most value out of the data available to them. Furthermore, the company was struggling with manual logging, which became too time-consuming as InfoTrack grew and didn’t allow developers to trace and debug applications.

CIRA's Expansion into Cybersecurity with Akamai Secure Internet Access Business
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) was established in 2000 with a mandate to run a safe, secure, and reliable .CA domain for all Canadians. With over 2.8 million domains under management, CIRA saw an opportunity to complement its registry revenue with new services. In 2015, CIRA moved into DNS cybersecurity with the introduction of D-Zone Anycast DNS, a service now used by ISPs, the Canadian government, and many educational institutions. However, after the release of this service, many of CIRA’s customers requested a recursive DNS Service, particularly organizations in the education sector who were interested in a service with content filtering. CIRA considered building a recursive DNS service solution in-house but realized the real value was in a threat feed, which they couldn’t develop on their own.

Embracing Network Functions Virtualisation: A Competitive Edge for Datanet
Datanet, a UK-based data hosting and connectivity services provider, was facing several challenges that necessitated a change in its data centre network. Firstly, the network equipment was nearing its end-of-life, raising concerns about its long-term viability. Given that Datanet's customers required highly reliable services with minimal downtime, a future-proofed and high availability network was essential. Secondly, as Datanet's services grew more successful and the volume of backup and recovery services increased, it needed to upgrade its network capacity from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps to keep pace with traffic volumes. Upgrading the existing equipment would have required a substantial investment, almost equivalent to replacing it completely, prompting Datanet to look for alternative solutions. Lastly, Datanet had experienced a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack that its previous vendor had struggled to deal with satisfactorily. It was keen to deploy comprehensive security throughout its new infrastructure as a fundamental design feature, rather than an add-on.

Humber River Hospital, a major acute care facility in Toronto, Canada, was grappling with a significant challenge - the nursing shortage. The hospital was continually seeking first-rate ICU nursing candidates to staff its facility. However, the traditional recruitment methods, such as job ads on Indeed, were not yielding the desired results. The high competition among other Toronto hospitals made it difficult for Humber River Hospital to stand out with only a text ad. This resulted in a low return on investment (ROI) for its high cost. If the hospital didn't get enough candidates through job boards, they would have to resort to recruitment agencies, which cost an average of $15,000 per hire. The hospital was in dire need of a more cost-effective way to attract and qualify candidates for its internal recruitment agents.
